Box Score Denison's Christian Keiper scored with five minutes left in the first half and that goal was enough to propel the Big Red to a 1-0 victory over the College of Wooster.
Keiper entered the match in the 34th minute for Will Rudolph and six minutes later, Brandon Kozak fed him a ball near the post where he sent the first touch into the back of the net. The goal was the first of the season for Keiper.
DU held a 9-6 advantage in shots in the first half. In the second half, Wooster outshot Denison 7-6 but only one of the seven shots was on-frame. That save for Big Red keeper Jack Thomas happened only two minutes into the period on a shot by Wooster's Max Rochester.
In the 75th minute, it looked like Denison was going to take a 2-0 lead but Max Haupt's shot banged off the crossbar. The Fighting Scots did take three shots over the final eight minutes but none of them necessitated a save by Thomas.
Will Rudolph led the team in shots with four. Will Kendall followed with three shots and Thomas posted two saves while playing all 90 minutes in goal.
Denison improves to 5-7-2 overall and 2-3-1 in the North Coast Athletic Conference. They will travel to Greencastle, Indiana on Saturday for a 2:30 p.m. match against DePauw University.
