Wabash leaves Granville with 1-0 victory

Box Score

Wabash scored the match's only goal in the 27th minute and that was enough to escape Barclay-Thomsen Field with a 1-0 victory over Denison.

The Little Giants got on the scoreboard when Alexiz Arellano chipped a shot from outside the 17-yard box, over the head of Denison goalkeeper, Jack Thomas.  Six minutes earlier, Wabash had a 1v1 situation with Thomas, but Nikola Kajmakoski's shot from close range went wide of the goal.

In the second half, Denison's Kyle Skinner came inches from scoring the equalizer, but the referee ruled that the ball did not cross the line, awarding possession to the Little Giants.

After a Wabash foul in the final minute of play gave Denison a free kick from just inside midfield, Jordan Williams put a solid shot attempt on-frame that had to be saved by Wabash keeper Dayton Jennings with eight seconds remaining.

Denison held a 15-8 advantage in shots while Wabash won the corner kick battle, 7-5.  Thomas finished with three saves for the Big Red while Jennings posted four saves for Wabash.  The Little Giants improve to 7-4-2 overall and 2-1-1 in the North Coast Athletic Conference.  Denison drops to 4-6-2 and 1-2-1 in the NCAC.

The Big Red will host Kenyon College on Saturday, October 15 at Barclay-Thomsen Field.  The start time has been moved up to 5 p.m.
