Box Score The 12th ranked Big Red men's soccer team improved to 5-0 following a 2-1 win over Muskingum University on Wednesday afternoon in New Concord, Ohio.
Denison set the tone early when first-year defender Karch Majtenyi headed in a corner kick from Jake Girardot in the 10th minute. DU would cling to its 1-0 lead until the 61st minute when Jordan Williams headed in a free kick by Luis Zamora. Williams' goal would prove to be the game-winner as the Muskies eventually scored in the 80th minute when Zach Schmauch's free kick found Brett Hanna.
Denison outshot Muskingum 20-12 and attempted eight corner kicks to MU's four. Daniel Jennings played all 90 minutes in goal for Muskingum and took the loss. He posted three saves while facing five shots on goal. Jack Thomas made his first start of the season in goal for Denison. He finished with three saves while facing four shots on goal.
DU will hit the road on Saturday, Sept. 19 when they make the short trip to Bexley to face Capital University at 4 p.m.
