Big Red doubled up by #23 Trinity

The 28th-ranked Denison men's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to No. 23 Trinity College (Conn.) on Friday afternoon in Claremont, Calif.

The second doubles team of Jeffrey LoDuca and Casey Cempre picked up an 8-4 victory over Daniel Carpenter and David Myers.  The Bantams won No. 1 and No. 3 doubles via 8-5 and 8-6 scores, respectively.

Denison senior Grant Veltman and junior Jackson O'Gorman-Bean logged DU's two singles wins on Friday. At the top flight, Veltman defeated Carpenter in three set (6-3, 2-6, 6-2). The win marked his second-straight and third at No. 1 singles.

O'Gorman-Bean improved to 6-3 at third singles following a 7-5, 4-6, 10-8 win over Rutendo Matingo. With the win, the junior extended his current winning streak to three straight.

The Big Red (3-7) will open North Coast Athletic Conference action on Tuesday when they travel to Delaware, Ohio to take on Ohio Wesleyan University. Match time is slated for 4:30 p.m.
