Big Red remains in NCAC Tourney hunt after win over Witt

Box Score

Will Kendall scored the game-winning goal in the 82nd minute to keep Denison alive in the race for the 2015 North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament.  At 3-2-3, the Big Red is currently tied with Oberlin for fourth place in the league standings with 12 points.  Denison and Oberlin will close out the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 31 in Granville.

Kendall got things started for Denison when he scored from 25-yards out in the 27th minute of play.  Ten minutes later, Wittenberg's Teddy Price tied the match.  Only two minutes would elapse before the Tigers took a 2-1 lead thanks to Alberto Zaragoza.

In the second half, Denison's Kennedy Kommor delivered the equalizer in the 63rd minute.  Zaragoza would retaliate with two straight shots with 15 minutes left on the clock.  His final strike had to be saved by DU keeper, Blake Schach.

After Kendall scored for the second time giving Denison a 3-2 lead, Wittenberg would not take another shot attempt.

The Big Red held a narrow 9-8 advantage in shots while Wittenberg finished with a 6-5 edge in corner kicks.  Schach and Wittenberg goalkeeper Jack Snider each finished with two saves apiece.

Denison moves to 11-2-3 overall while Wittenberg falls to 3-12-3.  The top four teams in the regular season conference standings will advance to the NCAC Tournament.
