Box Score Denison got one goal from Jordan Williams and two tallies from Kennedy Kommor as the Big Red bounced back with a 3-0 victory over The College of Wooster from Barclay-Thomsen Field in Granville. The win moves DU's record to 10-2-2 overall and 2-2-2 in the North Coast Athletic Conference.
After the two teams played the first 45 minutes to a scoreless tie, Denison came out of the starting blocks quickly in the second half.
Two and a half minutes into the period, Denison drew a corner kick that was taken by Luis Zamora. It would result in a shot by Denison's Henry Pohlman that was blocked away by a Wooster defender. A foul was called on the play as the referee ruled that the ball had bounced off the hands of a Scot defender in the box. DU was awarded a penalty kick that was converted by Williams who is now 2-for-2 on PK attempts this season.
Three minutes later, Kommor gave his team some breathing room when he sent a shot from the far left corner of the 17-yard box to the lower right corner of the goal.
Over the next 18 minutes, Wooster would put two shots on goal that had to be saved by Big Red keeper, Blake Schach. After Brandon Kozak glanced a shot off the crossbar in the 69th minute, Kommor settled a loose ball just outside the box and chipped a beautiful shot that found the back of the net.
It marked Kommor's second multi-goal match of the season. It also ran his season total for goals to a team-best, six.
Denison held an 18-12 advantage in shot attempts while both goalkeepers finished with four saves. The edge in corner kicks went to Denison, 8-6.
The Big Red will return to action this Saturday, Oct. 24, when they host DePauw at 12 p.m. in a pivotal NCAC match. The Tigers sit in third place in the league standings with 13 points at 4-1-1. Denison is tied for fifth with eight points at 2-2-2.
