Box Score Ninth-ranked Kenyon picked up their fourth North Coast Athletic Conference win of the season following a 3-0 victory over Denison on Saturday afternoon at Mavec Field in Gambier, Ohio.
The Lords' leading goal scorer, Tony Amolo, picked up his 12th goal of the season in the 21st minute to give the home team the early 1-0 lead. The score remained 1-0 until the 73rd minute when Woo Jeon netted his first of two goals on the afternoon. Jeon's first tally came off a Josh Lee assist at 72:14. His second of the day and fifth of the season came at 81:22 off a pass from Brice Koval.
Kenyon outshot DU 15-4 thanks in large part to an 8-0 advantage in the opening half. Eight of the Lords' 15 attempts landed on frame, while the Big Red failed to land a shot on goal. Kenyon had a 6-4 edge in corner kicks and where whistled offsides five times compared to one by offsides call on Denison.
Luis Zamora led the DU offense with two shots, while Will Kendall and Thomas Vondrak had the other two attempts. Senior Blake Schach made five saves in goal for the Big Red.
Amolo, Jeon and Oliver Wynn all had three shots for the Lords, with Amolo and Jeon landed all of theirs on frame. Sam Clougher played all 90 minutes between the pipes en route to his eighth shutout of the season.
Denison falls to 9-2-2 on the year and 1-2-2 in the NCAC, while Kenyon improves to 11-1 and 4-1 in conference play. The Big Red returns to action on Tuesday night when they host Wooster at Barclay-Thomsen Field in Granville. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
