Box Score Two of the top teams in the North Coast Athletic Conference played to a scoreless draw on Wednesday afternoon in Crawfordsville, Ind. Denison and Wabash both checked into the match with nine victories and after 110 minutes of soccer, both teams left the pitch with a nine in the win column.
The Big Red and Little Giants attempted just three shots over the first 45 minutes of action. Denison's Alex Miller uncorked the first shot of the match in the fourth minute that was saved by Little Giant keeper, Dayton Jennings. Forty seconds later, Henry Pohlman took a shot that sailed wide of the goal. The Big Red would not take another shot attempt until the 50th minute when Jasdeep Khaira put the ball on-frame.
The most action would come in the second overtime when DU's Jake Girardot started things off with a shot that was saved by Jennings 28 seconds into the period. Less than a minute later, Wabash's Nikola Kajmakosi took a shot at the other end of the field that had to be saved by Big Red keeper, Blake Schach. For the match, Schach was called upon to make five saves. Three of those saves would come in the final overtime.
Wabash held a 14-7 advantage in shots while DU held a 4-3 edge in corner kicks. There were 42 fouls in the match with Wabash committing 23. Girardot led Denison with two shots, both of which were on-goal. Max Rowley led Wabash with three shots.
Denison's record moves to 9-1-2 and 1-1-2 in the North Coast Athletic Conference. Wabash is 9-2-2 overall and 1-1-2 in conference play. The Big Red will return to action on Saturday when they travel to ninth-ranked Kenyon for a 3:30 p.m. match.
