Denison completed a 5-4 victory over Trinity (Conn.) on Tuesday afternoon in Claremont, Calif. The Big Red entered singles play trailing 2-1, but three, three-set victories by Juan Guerra, Andrew Marczak, and Casey Cempre would be the difference.
In the third flight, Cempre dropped the first set, 2-6 but battled back to win 6-3, 7-5. Both Marczak and Guerra won the first set before falling in the second. Marczak defeated Rutendo Matingo, 6-4 in the third to lock up his point. At No. 1 singles, Guerra knocked off Daniel Carpenter 6-4 for the win.
Denison's fourth singles point came from Jackson O'Gorman-Bean in straight sets. The Big Red will return to the courts on Thursday when they square-off with Bowdoin at 12:30 p.m. (Eastern).
