Box Score Josh Lubich's goal in the 69th minute of play broke a scoreless tie and would be enough to send Hiram College to a 1-0 victory over the Denison Big Red.
Hiram scored the game-winner by way of a free kick attempt by Richie Webb that was deflected by Andrew Bradley to the foot of Lubich.
Up to that point, Hiram had put five shots on-goal, all of which had resulted in saves by Big Red keeper, Blake Schach. He would finish with career-high eight saves.
Searching for the equalizer in the 78th minute, Denison's Kennedy Kommor sent a shot that was saved by Hiram's Like Wilhelm. DU would regain possession after the save but Collin Hockenbury's follow-up attempt banged off the crossbar.
Denison would come within inches of tying the match in the final minute of play when Jake Girardot's shot hit the post, resulting in a Denison corner kick that would be cleared by Hiram as time expired.
Hiram (6-6, 1-1 NCAC) would hold a 15-10 advantage in shots, but the Big Red (4-5-1, 1-1 NCAC) won the corner kick battle, 7-2.
Denison returns to the pitch next Saturday when they host Wittenberg at 4 p.m.
