Denison's quest for an Intercollegiate Tennis Association Indoor Championship came to an end on Saturday following a 7-2 loss to No. 4 Chicago from the Swanson Tennis Center in St. Peter, Minn.
The No. 5 Big Red advanced to the the semifinals after a 6-3 win over Washington & Lee on Friday. On Saturday the Maroons took a 3-0 lead after doubles and they locked up the victory by winning at third and first singles.
Denison broke through with a pair of singles wins from first-year Kelsey Geppner (Ann Arbor, Mich./Father Gabriel Richard) in the fifth spot and Kate Westenberger (York, Pa./Dallastown) in the sixth position. Geppner defeated Aswini Krishnan, 6-1, 6-1 and Westenberger topped Tiffany Nguyen, 6-1, 6-0.
On Sunday Denison will play No. 8 Carnegie Mellon for third-place. The match will begin at 9 a.m.
