Box Score Wabash College used a second-half score from Steve Magura to hand Denison a 1-0 loss on Saturday afternoon from Mud Hollow Stadium in Crawfordsville, Ind.
Both squads took six shots in the opening 45 minutes of play. However, four of the Little Giants' attempts were on goal, while only of the Big Red's shots were on cage. Almost 20 minutes into the second half, Magura scored the game's only goal off a corner kick by Josh Pedersen in the 65th minute.
Over the final 10 minutes, Wabash keeper Matt Paul made three of his four saves on the afternoon to keep the Big Red off the scoreboard. DU keeper Matt Wagner made a game-high seven saves in 90 minutes between the pipes.
The Little Giants outshot the Big Red 13-10 and outcornered DU 5-3. The Little Giants were also flagged for 14 fouls while Denison committed 11 infractions. The two teams combined for five yellow cards.
Sophomore Bob Casarona paced the Big Red offense with three shots, while seven other players each logged a shot for DU.
Denison falls to 7-5-2 overall and 3-3 in the North Coast Athletic Conference, while the Little Giants improve to 7-6-2 and 2-3 in league play. DU returns to action on Tuesday (Oct. 18) when they travel to Springfield, Ohio for a 7 p.m. match with Wittenberg.
