Senior goalkeeper Kevin Donahue (Riverside, Conn./Greenwich) slammed the door on No. 23 Kenyon College, leading his Big Red men's soccer team to a 0-0 tie with the Lords from Gambier, Ohio.
Donahue had a busy afternoon. Not only did he pick up his 25th career shutout, he did it by facing a total of 30 shots. Out of those 30 scoring attempts by Kenyon, Donahue made nine saves including a clutch save in the second overtime.
The Lords outshot Denison 30-6 over the 110 minutes of soccer. Thirteen of the 14 field players who appeared in the match for Kenyon attempted at least one shot. Denison was led in the shot department by Chris Olson (Arlington Heights, Ill./Rolling Meadows) and Peter Shorten (Hudson, Ohio/Western Reserve Academy) who had two apiece.
The tie moves Denison's overall record to 8-4-2 and 4-1-1 in the North Coast Athletic Conference. Kenyon's record drops to 11-3-1 and 4-1-1 in league play. Denison and Kenyon remain locked in a tie for second place in the conference standings. The Big Red will return to the pitch on Saturday at 7 p.m. against Wittenberg in Springfield, Ohio.
