Big Red Claim Fifth at NCAC Indoor Track and Field Championships

Springfield, Ohio - The Denison women's track and field team held their first day of fifth place to conclude the 2026 NCAC Indoor Track and Field Championships in Springfield, Ohio hosted by Wittenberg University. The Big Red captured five All-NCAC nominations and racked up 82 points to finish fifth behind Wittenberg (94) and ahead of Kenyon (45). John Carroll claimed the team championship with a total score of 166.

Sprints/Distance

The 60-meter hurdles saw two Big Red earn points, as Mira Renaldi grabbed fourth with a time of 9.08 for five points, and Sydney Brown finished seventh with a time of 9.34 for two. Senior Emily Brennan captured fourth in the 400-meter dash with a personal-best time of 58.30 for five points. In the 1-mile run, first-year Shaylee Murdough had a personal-best and broke her previous school record, finishing seventh for two points (5:08.25).

In the relays, Denison picked up a total of 11 points, six of which came from the 4x200, and five from the 4x400. In the 4x200, Denison medaled with a time of 1:43.54 from the quartet of Brennan, Ryan Singer, Arialyn Bischak, and Stevie Combs. The time bested last year's winner by a second. The team placed fourth in the 4x400, as Bischak, Brennan, Lee, and Murdough finished with a time of 4:01.31.

Field 

In shot put, senior Sydney Flores grabbed second with a throw of 12.24m for eight points, while first-year Gabrielle Turner in her first championship field delivered a third place finish with a throw of 11.82m and six points. In the triple jump, Emery Kurth delivered a personal-best jump of 10.72m for fifth place and four points. Sophomore Julia Schena followed right behind for a sixth place finish with a personal-best mark of 10.68m for three points. Schena also notched a point in the high jump with a jump of 1.48m. 

Up Next for the Big Red

Denison will head to Ada, Ohio for a Last Chance Meet hosted by Ohio Northern University on March 6-7.
