Denison Stands in Eighth Place After Day One of NCAC Indoor Track and Field Championships

Springfield, Ohio - After day one of the NCAC Indoor Track and Field Championships, the Big Red sit in eighth place with eight points. Denison garnered points in the 4,000-meter distance medley relay as well as the 5,000-meter run. Jake McCann broke the school record in the 200-meter dash, and the medley relay broke the school record as well. Wabash currently sits in first with 46 points, followed by Wittenberg with 43 and DePauw with 29 to round out the top-three.

First-year Will Jackson captured three points in the 5,000-meter run, finishing with a personal-best time of 15:13.56 for a sixth place finish. The 4,000-meter distance medley relay team consisting of Leo Wisnefski, Jason Rideout, Wilson White, and Oliver DiCerbo broke the school record while also earning five points to round out the night and day one from Springfield.

Sophomore Jake McCann barely missed out on qualifying for the 200-meter dash, but his time of 22.20 beat the previous school record and a top-10 finish. Just off of qualifying or earning points was Reed Nobili in weight throw (13th; 14.18m) and Wade Nguyen in the 60-meter hurdle prelims (9th; 8.72).

Denison heads back tomorrow for day two with field events starting at 10 am and running events beginning at 2:30 pm.
