Five Men’s Track and Field Athletes Selected for CSC Academic All-District® Team

Granville, Ohio - The 2025-26 College Sports Communicators' Academic All-District® Men's Track and Field team was released recently, and five Big Red student-athletes were selected. Seniors Justin Tharayil and Oliver DiCerbo, junior Reed Nobili, and sophomores Jake McCann and Eric Ott were selected for their hard work inside and out of the classroom.

Oliver DiCerbo - Distance

DiCerbo, a senior distance runner from Lexington, Massachusetts, goes back-to-back years on the Academic All-District team. DiCerbo was the forefront of the long-distance running on the Big Red, recording personal bests in his senior season in the 3k (8:45.93), mile (4:18.32), 5k (15:35.95), 1500-meter run (3:57.44), and steeplechase (9:27.86). He had four top-five finishes across the spring and placed fourth in the steeplechase at the NCAC Outdoor Championships.

Justin Tharayil - Jumps/Combined Events

Tharayil, a senior combined events student-athlete from Evanston, Illinois, joins DiCerbo as the only repeat selections for the Academic All-District team. This spring, Tharayil competed in the decathlon at the NCAC Outdoor Combined Events Championships, finishing fifth with multiple bests across the 10 events. He posted five top-five finishes, with his best events being long jump (second, 6.19m) and shot put (second, 11.67m). Tharayil would also claim a third-place finish in the high jump with a mark of 1.79m.

Reed Nobili - Throws

Nobili, a junior thrower from Charlotte, North Carolina, received his first Academic All-District nomination in his junior season. Nobili recorded multiple personal bests this season, setting new bests in shot put (13.57m), weight throw (14.34m), and hammer (42.87m). He recorded five top-five finishes and won the discus at the Marv Frye Invitational.

Jake McCann - Sprints

McCann, a sophomore sprinter from Dublin, Ohio, notches his first Academic All-District nomination in his career. McCann had a breakout sophomore campaign, delivering multiple top-three finishes throughout the indoor and outdoor seasons. He finished first in the 200-meter dash at the Big Red Invitational (21.77) and won the 100-meter dash at the Duane Gomez Invitational (10.82). McCann was also part of the 4x100, 4x200,, and 4x400 teams, earning All-NCAC honors in the 4x200 at the NCAC Indoor Track and Field Championships and third in the outdoor.

Eric Ott - Jumps

Ott, a sophomore jumper from Claremont, California, earned his first career Academic All-District distinction. Ott competed in long jump and triple jump, securing six top-five finishes, including a win in the triple jump at the Duane Gomez Invitational. He recorded personal bests in the long jump (6.16m) and triple jump (13.34m)  to round out his sophomore year.

The men's track and field team finished eighth at the NCAC Indoor Track and Field Championships and seventh at the Outdoor Championships.
