Sydney Brown Earns All-Conference Honors, Track and Field Compete in NCAC Indoor Combined Events Championships

Wooster, Ohio - Senior Sydney Brown finished third at the NCAC Indoor Combined Events Championships to receive All-NCAC honors. The Big Red had three competitors in the women's, while the men had one participant in first-year Tyler McClintock-Comeaux. Both teams saw beneficial experience on their weekend trip to The College of Wooster.

Pentathlon

Brown finished her day with a total of 2,682 points, with the most coming from the 60-meter hurdles as she finished first with a time of 9.71 for 767 points. Brown took third in the long jump (4.82m; 511 points) and fifth in the shot put (8.44m; 428 points) for her top-three events. Sophomore Julia Schena finished right behind Brown at fourth, finishing with 2,666 points, 16 away from Brown. Schena's best event was in the high jump, placing second for 621 points and a mark of 1.50m. She gathered the most points in the 60-meter hurdles, grabbing 673 points with a time of 10.21. Schena tied Brown in the long jump at third with a mark of 4.82m and 511 points to round out her top events. First-year Marisa Bianchi did not finish, but put up a solid showing in her first combined events championship. Bianchi finished fifth in high jump with a mark of 1.38m for 491 points, and sixth in the long jump for 469 points and a mark of 4.66m.

Heptathlon

First-year Tyler McClintock-Comeaux finished 11th with 3,287 points in his first combined events championship appearance. His highest placing came in the pole vault, where he finished fourth with a mark of 3.75m for 549 points. He secured 613 points in the 60-meter, placing 10th with a time of 10.76, and took 12th in shot put with a mark of 9.45m for 453 points for his top events.

Up Next for the Big Red

Denison will head back to Wittenberg University for the NCAC Indoor Track and Field Championships next week from February 27-28.
