DiCerbo and King Earn Top Five Finishes at Wittenberg Invite

Springfield, Ohio - In a field featuring multiple Division One institutions and top competition across the board, the Denison men's track and field team placed multiple top ten finishes, including a second place time by senior Oliver DiCerbo in the 1-mile run. The Big Red finished their last tune up before heading to the NCAC Indoor Track and Field Championships next week.

Sprints/Distance Events

Senior Oliver DiCerbo highlighted the meet, as he finished second with a new personal-best time of 4:18.32, the best finish of the day for the Big Red. Also placing a top-ten finish was first-year Will Jackson, as he finished eighth in the 3000-meter run with a personal-best time of 8:55.14. In the 5000-meter run, Drew Carpenter finished with a personal-best run of 16:40.96 and finished 11th. Junior Pierce Patterson also had an 11th place finish, this one being in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.89. First-year Zion Edwards kicked off his rookie campaign with a 12th place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:58.15. Sophomore Jake Mason had top-20 finishes in the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes, finishing with a time of 7.21 in the 60-meter and 23.32 in the 200.

Field Events

Junior Justin King had a career day in the shot put, placing fourth with a personal-best throw of 14.81m to have the highest placing of the field events. Sophomore Joe Teates recorded a top-ten finish in pole vault, finishing 10th with a mark of 3.85m. In the long jump, senior David Atlas finished 14th with a jump of 5.93m, and first-year Samuel Pfitzenmayer finished highest for the Big Red in the weight throw with a toss of 13.11m. Junior Reed Nobili was second in the Big Red in shot put, throwing for a mark of 11.99m.

Up Next for the Big Red

Denison will head back to Wittenberg University for the NCAC Indoor Track and Field Championships next week from February 27-28.
