Renaldi Highlights All-Ohio Championships with Record-Breaking Day

Westerville, Ohio - The Denison women's track and field team headed out to Otterbein University to compete in the All-Ohio Championships, and the Big Red captured seventh out of 16 teams. Mira Renaldi broke her previous 60-meter hurdle record with a time of 8.97, and multiple Big Red recorded top-three finishes. Denison finished with 34 total points, and the champion was NCAC foe Ohio Wesleyan with 150.5 followed by Case Western Reserve (85) and Baldwin Wallace (61.5).

Sprint/Distance Events

Renaldi broke her previous record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.97 to grab second place and eight points. In the 1-mile, Shaylee Murdough grabbed second with a time of 5:18.67. Other top-three finishers were Emily Brennan in the 400-meter dash (third; 1:00.70; six points), and the 4x400 relay team consisting of Arialyn Bischak, Brennan, Piper Lee, and Murdough (third; 4:06.05; six points). Bischak also gained points in the 400-meter dash, finishing sixth with a time of 1:01.37 for three points. Serafina Lavallee gathered one point in the 1500-meter run for an eighth place finish with a time of 5:18.67. At the OWU Open, sophomore Julia Schena placed first in the 60-meter hurdles with a personal-best of 9.75, and first-year Marisa Bianchi finished fifth with a time of 11.64.

Field Events

Sydney Flores captured two points in the shot put, throwing for a mark of 11.95m and placing seventh. In the pole vault, Evie Sparks finished with a mark of 2.82m, and Norah O'Malley finished 11th with a mark of 4.40m in the long jump. At the OWU Open, Bianchi also finished fifth in high jump with a mark of 1.38m.

Up Next for the Big Red

The Big Red will head out to Springfield, Ohio for the Wittenberg Invite and the NCAC Combined Events hosted by The College of Wooster next week, February 21-22.
