Denison Records Top Ten Finish at All-Ohio Championships

Westerville, Ohio - The Denison men's track and field team headed 30 minutes west to compete in the All-Ohio Championships hosted by Otterbein University, and the Big Red took home seventh place out of 16 institutions. Denison finished tied with NCAC foe Oberlin with 39 points, while Baldwin Wallace took home first place with a total score of 130.5 followed by Ohio Northern (83), and host Otterbein (80).

Sprints/Distance Events

The Big Red had four top-three finishes around the track in the 400-meter dash, 3000-meter run, and the 4x200 and 4x400 relays. In the 400-meter dash, junior Jack Meyerowitz finished second with a time of 51.10 to capture eight points for the Big Red. Senior Oliver DiCerbo also finished second in the 3000-meter run with a time of 8:45.93 for another eight points. In the 4x200, the quartet of Jake McCann, Caleb Zell- Ratner, Pierce Patterson, and Meyerowitz finished second with a time of 1:30.81, and in the 4x400 finished third with a time of 3:28.53 and six points. Other point recipients were Leo Wisnefski in the 1-mile (sixth; 4:28.24; three points), and Felix Martin in the 60-meter hurdles (eighth; 8.84; one point). At the OWU Invite, first-year Tyler McClintock-Comeaux captured fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 11.10, and finished sixth in the high jump with a mark of 1.45m.

Field Events

Eric Ott highlighted the field events, gaining one point in the triple jump with a mark of 12.72m for eighth place. First-year Nate McCleery had a top-10 finish in the long jump, finishing ninth with a mark of 6.36m. Justin King finished the highest in the shot put, placing 12th with a throw of 13.69m. In the weight throw, Reed Nobili finished 14th with a mark of 14.34m.

The Big Red will head out to Springfield, Ohio for the Wittenberg Invite and the NCAC Combined Events hosted by The College of Wooster next week, February 21-22.
