Men’s Track and Field Finish Second in Fighting Scots Invitational Tri-Meet

Wooster, Ohio - In the second meet of the New Year, the Big Red men's track and field team placed second at the Fighting Scots Invitational hosted by The College of Wooster. Denison finished with 88 points just behind champion Kenyon, who had 90, and host Wooster finished with 79. The afternoon was filled with many first place finishes and personal-bests.

Sprints/Distance

Sophomore Jake McCann finished first with a personal-best of 7.07 in the 60-meter dash for seven points. Caleb Zell- Ratner was right behind with a close finish of second place with a time of 7.08, just 0.01 behind McCann, to grab five points. First-year Wilson White had a personal-best in the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.43 to pick up seven points. In the 800-meter dash, junior Leo Wisnefski earned first place honors after finishing with a time of 2:01.66 to pick up another seven points for the Big Red. Sebastian Klimchak also picked up some points, grabbing two with a fifth place finish (2:05.08). First-year Wade Nguyen earned first place honors after a personal-best time of 7.74 in the 60-meter hurdles. Fellow first-year Felix Martin also had a personal-best in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.97. In the 200-meter dash, White and Akindele Aboyade-Cole were able to pick up points, as White scored two (24.88) and Aboyade-Cole gained one (25.22). Drew Carpenter had a top-three finish in the one mile, placing third with a time of 4:56.82 to get four points.

Both relay teams grabbed first place, as McCann, Jack Meyerowitz, Elias Vail, and Jake Mason finished with a time of 1:32.38 in the 4x200, while Meyerowitz, White, Wisnefski, and Elias Sellman Skinner earned first place with a time of 3:34.63/

Field Events

In the long jump, Eric Ott grabbed second place for five points with a mark of 5.84m, while David Atlas scored three with a jump of 5.62m. Reed Nobili and Leo Koch grabbed top-three honors, as Nobili nabbed second with a personal-best throw of 13.38m for five points, while Koch was third with a mark of 11.60m for four. Nobili continued his strong day with another top-three finish, this time in the weight throw, where he reached a personal-best mark of 13.48m for third place. Junior Justin King had a personal-best of his own in the weight throw with a mark of 13.27m, good for fourth place.

Up Next for the Big Red

The Big Red will head to Springfield, Ohio at Wittenberg University for the Steemer Showcase next Saturday, January 31.
