Denison Finishes Sixth in Competitive Muskie Meet

New Concord, Ohio - With a bevy of Division II and Division III teams spread across the playing surface, the Big Red came out with a sixth place finish to start out the New Year. Denison finished with 49 points behind Division II Seton Hill. Multiple Denison athletes placed in the top-three, with many others breaking personal-bests and racking up points for the team.

Distance/Sprints

The Big Red picked up major points in the relay events, as the 4x200 meter relay team of Arialyn Bischak, Mira Renaldi, Stevie Combs, and Briyana Hart placed third for six points with a time of 1:48.76. In the 4x400 meter relay, Denison picked up second this time for eight points with a time of 4:17.37. Shaylee Murdough placed third in the 800 meter run, finishing with a time of 2:24.58 to earn six points. In the one mile run, Jane McNamara picked up one point coming in ninth with a mark of 5:43.28 while Amelia Anderson was right behind her in 10th place with a time of 5:46.02 to pick up a point. Lulu Visocky-O'Grady placed in the top-10 in the 500 meter dash, placing eighth with a time of 1:36.06 to obtain two points.

Field Events

Sophomore Julia Schena took first in the triple jump with a personal-best jump of 10.64m (34'11"), gaining 10 points, while first-year Marisa Bianchi finished third with a mark of 9.74m (31' 11 ½") in her first triple jump event of the season to obtain six points for the squad. Schena would also place top-three in the long with a mark of 4.95m (16' 3"). Evie Sparks gained a point in the pole vault, earning a mark of 2.64m (8' 8"). In the shot put, Ryan Singer placed 10th with a throw of 10.20m (33' 5 ¾") to lead the Big Red.
