Men's Track and Field | 7/22/2025 10:15:00 AM

New Orleans, La. - The Denison Track & Field programs, along with recent graduate Andrew D'Asaro and rising senior Sydney Flores, have earned All-Academic Honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the 2024-25 academic year.

Under the direction of 14th year head coach Mark FitzPatrick, both men's and women's squads were named USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams. The women's team posted a team GPA of 3.32, while the men's team amassed a team GPA of 3.21.

The criteria for a team to be named an NCAA Division III All-Academic Team:

  • Cumulative team GPA (not 2023-24 academic year, not semester) of all student-athletes who used a season of eligibility must be at least a 3.1 on a 4.0 scale through the most recent semester/quarter, computed by the following method:
  • Total the cumulative number of semester hours or quarter hours earned for all student-athletes who used a season of eligibility, including the most recent grading period;
  • Total the cumulative number of quality points (GPA multiplied by the number of credit hours) earned by all student-athletes who used a season of eligibility, including the most recent grading period;
  • Divide the cumulative number of quality points earned by the cumulative number of semester or quarter hours earned.
  • Institutions utilizing a different GPA scale than 4.0 then must convert the GPA to a 4.0 scale using the standard conversion method [GPA/Scale x 4.0]. Data must be certifiable by the institution's registrar.
  • Graduate students must take all undergraduate plus graduate coursework into account.
Two members of the Track & Field squads earned individual honors, as Andrew D'Asaro (Downington, Pa./The Hill School) earned All-Academic status for the fourth time in his career, and Sydney Flores (Durango, Colo./Durango) earned All-Academic honors for the first time in her Big Red career.

D'Asaro, a recent graduate earning a degree in Economics and Environmental Science, has cemented himself in the Denison record books, as he holds the all-time record in Javelin with a throw of 64.07 meters (210' 2"). He also placed 8th at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in javelin with a throw of 63.02 meters (206' 8") for First Team All-American honors.

Flores, an upcoming senior studying Biochemistry, earned her first All-Academic honors. Going into her last season as a Big Red, she is a five time All-NCAC recipient, with most recently placing second in the shot put (13.12m) and discus (38.46m) at the 2025 NCAC Outdoor Championship and placing first in the shot put (12.51m) at the 2025 NCAC Indoor Championship.

The criteria to be named an NCAA Division III All-Academic Athlete:
  • Minimum CUMULATIVE grade point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale through the most recently completed grading period. Institutions utilizing a different GPA scale must convert the GPA to a 4.0 scale using the standard conversion method [GPA/Scale x 4.0]. Data must be certifiable by the institution's registrar.
  • Graduate students must take all undergraduate plus graduate coursework into account.
  • Meet one of the following athletic criteria:
  1. Must have finished the indoor season among the top 50 individuals as listed on the descending order lists on TFRRS. In addition, any athletes not among the top 50, but who participated at the Indoor or Outdoor National Championships, are eligible.
  2. Must have competed as a member of one of the top 35 relay teams as listed on the indoor descending order list on TFRRS. In addition, any athletes not among the top 35 relay teams, but who participated in the relay at the Indoor or Outdoor National Championships, are eligible. Finally, any competing relay team member on an expanded descending order list to include 35 institutions (1 relay team per institution) is eligible.
