Zell-Ratner lining up to run

Big Red Compete in Tiger Opener to Start Indoor Season

Springfield, Ohio - The Denison men's track and field team headed out west to Springfield, Ohio for the Tiger Opener hosted by Wittenberg University. The team saw many elite performances, including top-five finishes from Joe Teates in the pole vault and Eric Ott in the triple jump, while also making them personal-best's as well.

Distance/Sprints

In the 400-meter dash, Jack Meyerowitz was the top finisher for the Big Red, placing 12th with a time of 50.58. Caleb Zell-Ratner and Jake McCann both had strong performances in the 200-meter dash, as Zell-Ratner finished eighth with a time of 22.46 and McCann placed 10th with a time of 22.55.Wilson White captured a top-five finish in the 800-meter run, as the first-year finished fourth with a time of 1:58.57 to start out his rookie season.

Field Events

Joe Teates landed a top-three finish in pole vault, having a career-best mark of 3.95 to nab the spot. Not far behind was Tyler McClintock-Comeaux, who had a jump of 3.65 meters to place seventh, and Cameron Lau rounded out the top-10 with a 3.50 meter mark. In the weight throw, Reed Nobili led the Big Red with a throw of 12.54 meters to place 14th. First-year Nate McCleery had an impressive debut, landing in the top-10 in long jump with a mark of 6.36m to notch eighth-place. Senior David Atlas scored 14th with a jump of 5.89m. Eric Ott had a new personal-best in the triple jump, placing fourth with a jump of 12.69 meters. Nobili would round out his day with a seventh-place finish in shot put, throwing a mark of 12.83 meters to start off his season.
