Big Red Competes in Steemer Showcase

Springfield, Ohio - In an ultra-competitive field at the Steemer Showcase, the Denison men's track and field team finished 17th out of 22 teams and gained 12 points. The 4x200 relay team impressed once again, setting a new school record, and Eric Ott had a top-five finish in the triple jump.

Sprints/ Distance
The 4x200 relay team of Jake McCann, Caleb Zell- Ratner, Jake Meyerowitz, and Jake Mason garnered the most points for the Big Red, as they gained five for a fourth-place finish with a time of 1:29.57, which is a new school record for the Big Red. In the 1-mile run, Oliver DiCerbo placed 11th with a time of 4:22.22 for two points. Noah Cyr picked up a point in the 5k run, placing 16th with a time of 15:25.49. Caleb Zell- Ratner finished in the top-15 in a competitive 200-meter dash field, finishing 12th with a time of 22.48. Meyerowitz finished 23rd in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.15.

Field Events
In the triple jump, Eric Ott placed fifth with a mark of 13.04m for four points. In the weight throw, Samir Pfitzenmayer was the highest Big Red to place with a mark of 13.59m (26th). David Atlas had a top-25 finish in the long jump, reaching a mark of 5.95m for 22nd place. In the shot put, Justin King reached a mark of 12.16 to pace Denison.

The Big Red will host their first meet of the season, the Bob Shannon Invitational, next Saturday, February 7.
