Greencastle, Ind.- The Denison men's track and field team finished in second place at the 2025 North Coast Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships after tripling its points on day two for a total of 137.5 points. The Little Giants of Wabash College claimed the NCAC title for the second consecutive year with 172.5 points. In third place was Wittenberg with 130.5.
Day One (May 2)
Denison began its weekend in Greencastle with a solid first day. Throughout Friday's events, a handful of events crowned their champions. The Big Red finished the first day of competition with nine top-ten finishes in six events, and of those nine top-ten finishes, six individuals earned points towards Denison's team total. By the end of day one, the Big Red recorded three All-Conference performances and an NCAC title for a total of 42 points heading into day two.
Field Events
In pole vault first year,
Seamus McCann earned All-NCAC honors after finishing third and clearing a height of 4.50m. Also earning points for Denison in pole vault was senior
Jason Spino, who finished in fifth place after clearing 4.25m. Fellow seniors
Jack Blais and
Tyler Miller competed in long jump, with Blais finishing second after jumping a distance of 7.04m, and Miller clearing 6.67m.Â
In shot put,
Chris Slater came in fourth place after throwing 14.38m. Slater would earn the 2025 NCAC hammer throw title after throwing a distance of 57.04m, teammate
Owen Mathes earned an eighth-place finish in hammer with a throw of 43.64m.Â
Day Two (May 3)
On day two, Denison showed its depth, earning 21 top-ten finishes, eight of which were All-NCAC performances and another title.
Sprints and Hurdles
In the men's 100m dash,
Jaylin Epps earned All-NCAC honors after running it in 10.67 seconds for second place. Teammates
Caleb Zell- Ratner (10.90) and
Ari Skolnik (10.94) finished sixth and seventh respectively in the 100m dash. Soon after, Skolnik took home his third career title in the 110m hurdles after running it in 14.40 for first place. Epps and Zell-Ratner would go sixth and seventh, respectively, in the 200m dash, with Epps finishing in 21.88 and Zell-Ratner in 21.99. Tacking on the third and fourth All-conference honors of the day were
Malik Holley (48.85) and
Pierce Patterson (49.22), the duo finished second and third, respectively, in the 400m dash. Denison found their stride at the right time in both the 4x100 and 4x400 relay, earning second in the 4x100 (41.32) and third in the 4x400 (3:20.23).
Distance
Oliver DiCerbo earned the best finish amongst the distance events, with a fourth-place finish in the 1,500m run, crossing the finish line in 3:59.62. Just behind him, with a time of 4:04.23 and a seventh-place finish, was
Leo Wisnefski. In the 3000m steeplechase, senior
Nico Martinelli finished in 10:16.15 for 10th place, while
Nathan Bertman ran the 10,000m run in 33.14.28 for ninth place.
Jumps and Throws
Reed Nobili earned the Big Red's fifth All-NCAC finish of the day after throwing 42.48m for third place. Teammate Mathes joined him as a top-ten finisher, after throwing a distance of 39.79m for eighth. Over in javelin, senior
Andrew D'Asaro earned an All-conference nod after clearing a distance of 58.51m for second place. Sophomore
Jonathan Westfall finished in fifth place after throwing a distance of 50.12m. Over in the sand pit
Justin Tharayil competed in triple jump and jumped a distance of 13.06m for fourth place, while Blais cleared 12.47m for ninth.

Members of the Denison Big Red will travel to Berea, Ohio for the Baldwin Wallace Harrison Dillard Twilight from May 8 through May 9.
