Geneva, Ohio- Competing in his first NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Denison senior thrower
Chris Slater maintained his national seeding by finishing as a First-Team All-American in the hammer throw. Slater started the day with a strong opening throw of 61.15m (200-7), which kept him in top-ten contention. Despite scratching in his second and fourth rounds, that first throw placed him in fifth, ultimately securing a first-team All-American finish. His throw was just .70m away from his career best that qualified him for the NCAAs, and although he couldn't break the 62m mark, Slater's throw today stands as his second-best in his record-breaking career as a Big Red.
