Charlottesville, Va.- Six members of the Denison men's and women's track and field teams traveled to the University of Virginia to compete against Division I and III student-athletes at the two-day Virginia Challenge. Of the six competitors, four individuals cracked the top 25, with three earning top-15 finishes.
Sprints and Hurdles
Ari Skolnik ran the 100m Hurdles in 14.36 for 15th place, the highest finish for the Big Red around the track. Skolnik and
Jaylin Epps would run in the 100m Prelims with Skolnik finishing in 10.91 (62nd) and Epps finishing in 10.71 (36th), just a second behind his personal best. Epps would also compete in the 200m Dash, where he finished 50th with a time of 22.28. Rounding out the men's team sprinters was
Malik Holley who competed in the 400m Dash, finishing 51st after crossing the finish line in 49.66 seconds.
On the women's side,
Emily Brennan finished 20th in the 400m Hurdles after recording a time of 1:03.97, a tenth of a second behind her personal best hurdle time. Joining Brennan around the track was
Anaya Jolivette, who ran the 200m Dash and competed in the 100m Prelims. In the 200m, she ran a 24.95 for 44th place, and in the 100m Prelims, she came in 60th place with a time of 12.41.
Throws
Returning to Charlottesville for the second time this spring season was
Andrew D'Asaro, who threw a distance of 56.58m (185-7) in javelin for 14th place. Also throwing at the Virginia Challenge was
Chris Slater who threw in two events, hammer throw and shot put. In shot put, Slater threw a distance of 14.92m (48-11 ½) for 25th place, and then finished eighth in hammer throw after clearing a distance of 57.95m (190-1).
