Sewickley, Pa. – The Denison men's golf team battled through a two-day stretch at the Win Palmer Cup, hosted by Wittenberg University at the historic Allegheny Country Club. The Big Red recorded rounds of 307 and 308 for a 615 (+55) total, placing ninth in a competitive 11-team field.
The Win Palmer Cup utilized a format where each team's top four scores out of six players counted toward the team total in each round.
Individual Highlights:
- Freshman Owen Blakely led Denison over the two rounds with a total score of 153 (+13), posting rounds of 74 and 79. Blakely was steady throughout, carding four birdies.
- Senior Andrew Gallagher followed closely with a 153 (+13) of his own, bouncing back in round two with a strong 74 after opening with a 79. Gallagher recorded five pars and a birdie on the back nine of his final round to close on a high note.
- Junior Drew Brasky shot rounds of 79 and 75, totaling 154 (+14). He played the front nine at just two-over in both rounds and capped off the event with a run of five straight pars on day two.
- Freshman Joseph Brasky posted scores of 76 and 82 for a 158 (+18), highlighted by a strong opening round and a solid front nine on day two.
- Junior Jack Yurosek tallied rounds of 81 and 80 to finish at 161 (+21), improving by a stroke in his second round.
- Rounding out the lineup was sophomore Nicholas Viana, who shot 78 and 87 for a 165 (+25). His opening round featured a composed 38 on the front nine and a birdie on the par-5 10th.
Up Next: Denison will return to action at the Dan Caschera Classic, hosted by John Carroll University on April 27–28 at Sand Ridge Golf Club in Chardon, Ohio. This event will serve as the Big Red's final tune-up before the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Championship, scheduled for May 2–4 at River Greens Golf Course in West Lafayette, Ohio.
