Greensboro, N.C. - In the weather-shortened O'Briant Jensen Memorial, Denison men's golf placed 16th in a competitive 20 team field, which included top ranked Huntingdon College, #5 Sewanee University of the South, and conference foe #9 Wittenberg University. Inclement weather rolled into Greensboro overnight, canceling the final round and a chance for the Big Red to bounce back from Monday's +36 to par.
Playing through challenging conditions, Monday's effort was led by sophomore Owen Blakely, who recovered from back-to-back double bogies on his first two holes to card a +6, 77. Blakely's performance secured him a 30th place finish on the individual leaderboard.
Walker Grelle impressed in his showing, firing a +8, 79. Grelle's round was a tale of two nines, as he paired a front nine 43 with an even-par 36 on the back. His day was good enough for 48th.
First-year Jack Pelletier and senior Jack Yurosek both shot rounds of +11, 82. They close their falls with a tie for 78th place.
Senior Drew Brasky and sophomore Timothy Moriarty round out the Denison competitors, with Moriarty playing as an individual. Brasky shot a +15, 86, while Moriarty was one stroke behind him with a +16, 87.
The Big Red will return to Granville eager to hit the grindstone as they prepare for the demanding spring season, in which they hope to contend with top teams in the country.
