Owen Blakely led the team tied for fifth, finishing with a score of +9. Senior captain
Andrew Gallagher was right behind him finishing tied for 26th.
First-year
Benjamin Grelle and junior
Jack Yurosek each put up a strong performance with a T-48 and a T-51 finish respectively. Capping off their impressive performance was Big Red's junior
Drew Brasky with a T-55 finish.
After the tournament, Head Coach
Lauren Grogan reacted positively to her team's performance throughout the two-day event, stating, "A lot of positives came from this first event. It feels great to be back in competition mode. The winter months have been tough for golf in Ohio, so naturally, we had a bit of adjusting. We faced some really windy conditions and it was a good test. The men fought hard to the very end and it showed, with three birdies and an eagle on our final hole! We look forward to building on the good but keeping our eyes ahead to prepping for our next event(s). As we tighten up our wedges and short game we will see those scores continue to come down. I'm very proud of
Owen Blakely's top-five finish in this great event. Contending in the events we play in is always challenging, and to get that experience as a first year is priceless."
The Big Red look to take this momentum into the three-day Jekyll Island Intercollegiate Invitational at Jekyll Island Golf Club between Mar. 21st - Mar. 23rd.
