Granville, Ohio. - The Denison men's golf team had a busy weekend, competing in two events. The Big Red finished 29th at the prestigious Jekyll Island Collegiate, played at Jekyll Island Golf Club in Georgia, while a group of individuals delivered solid performances at the Pioneer Classic in Marietta, Ohio.
At Jekyll Island, Denison posted a team score of 921 (306-307-308) over three rounds on the Pine Lakes (Par 72, 6,700 yards) and Indian Mound (Par 72, 6,560 yards) courses, competing against top Division III programs. Meanwhile, at the Pioneer Classic, held at Marietta Country Club (Par 70, 6,205 yards).
Jekyll Island Collegiate in Jekyll Island, Georgia:
- Junior Jack Yurosek led the Big Red, tying for 78th with a total of 226. He improved each day, posting rounds of 77, 76, and 73, including three birdies in his final round.
- Junior Drew Brasky tied for 111th with a score of 230 (75-81-74), closing strong with 11 consecutive pars on Sunday.
- Senior Andrew Gallagher and freshman Owen Blakely tied for 134th at 235. Gallagher (77-76-82) was consistent in the first two rounds before struggling on the last day. Blakely (77-75-83) recorded three birdies in round two but faced challenges in his final round.
- Freshman Joseph Brasky shot 244 (85-80-79), improving steadily and finishing with his best score in round three.
The Pioneer Classic in Marietta, Ohio:
- Senior John Yavari led Denison's individuals, tying for 12th with a score of 77.
- Junior Marcus Ying followed, tying for 22nd with an 80
- Freshman Timothy Moriarty finished 38th after shooting a 91.
