Charlotte Jones was named the Liberty League Player of the Year for the 2024-25 season and was one of eight Denison University women's squash players to be named to an All-Liberty League team. Also earning a top league accolade was head coach
Michael MacDonald, who was named Liberty Leagues' Coaching Staff of the Year after leading the Big Red to a 13-7 overall record and securing Denison's highest-ever national ranking at No. 23.
Jones finished her inaugural season with a dominant 11-2 record from the number-one position, earning her Player of the Year recognition as well as a spot on the all-conference first-team. Throughout the 24-25 season, she was named Liberty League Performer of the Week twice and was just one of two student-athletes to do so. She was 2-0 versus Liberty League opponents, including a 3-0 decision over St. Lawrence in the first match of the College Squash Association's Walker Cup draw.Â
Joining Jones as an All-Liberty League First Team member is fellow first-year
Amelia Keng and senior
Antoinette Ramsey. Keng finished the season with an 8-10 overall record, and in league play finished 4-2, playing anywhere from position one to four in the lineup. Ramsey wrapped up her final season with the Big Red with an overall record of 7-11 and 4-2 in Liberty League play, competing in anywhere from position one to four.
Four members of the Denison women's squash team earned All-Liberty League Second Team honors.
Lane Harding,
Tess Lanza,
Maddie Ruggie, and
Charlotte Sigg were all named to the team. Junior Harding, who was abroad in the fall, finished the second half of the season with a record of 8-3 and would go undefeated (4-0) in Liberty League matches. Lanza finished the season with an 11-6 record and would garner a 5-1 conference record in her first year as a Big Red. Fellow first-year Ruggie finished tallied a 10-4 record for the year and was a perfect 5-0 in Liberty League matches. Rounding out the all-conference second-team honorees is senior
Charlotte Sigg, who would finish the season with an overall record of 10-5 and 2-0 in conference play.
The final All-Liberty Leauge honoree is senior
Virginia Lawrence, who received an honorable mention nod after going 10-5 overall and 4-0 in Liberty League competition.
Denison made waves this season, in just its third season as a Liberty League squash member, the Big Red advanced to the league championship match before falling in a tightly contested 5-4 loss to St. Lawrence. The two teams faced off again in the Walker Cup draw at the CSA Championships, with Denison coming out on top, beating St. Lawrence 7-2. The Big Red would ultimately finish in third place in the Walker Cup.
