Oberlin, Ohio- The Denison men's track and field team competed in two meets this weekend,
Justin Tharayil represented the Big Red at the North Coast Athletic Conference Combined Events Championships, hosted by Oberlin College, while the rest of the team traveled to Springfield, Ohio for the Wittenberg Invitational, where three program records were broken.
NCAC INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD COMBINED EVENTS CHAMPIONSHIPS:Â
Justin Tharayil finished sixth in the heptathlon at the NCAC Indoor Track and Field Combined Events Championship, after totaling 3,867 points. Tharayil's sixth place finishes gives the Big Red three team points heading into next week's NCAC Indoor Championships.

WITTENBERG INVITATIONAL: The Denison men's track and field team traveled to Springfield, Ohio, to compete in the 2025 Wittenberg Invitational on Saturday, February 22. Below are the top-ten finishes. Of the top-ten finishes two members of the team recorded three record breaking performances.
Jaylin Epps ran the 200m dash in 22:32, breaking Seven Lindsey's previous record of 22.43 (3/6/21). In throws
Chris Slater broke two program records, breaking his own shot put record of 50'1.75" (15.28 meters, 2/3/24) and weight throw record of 64'9.25" (19.74m, 2/15/25)
Top-10 Finishes:
- Noah Cyr- finished 10th in the 3000m run after running it in 9:08.29Â
- Oliver DiCerbo- came in sixth after running the mile run in 4:18.76
- Jaylin Epps- finished seventh in the 200m dash after finishing in 22.32
- Owen Mathes- came in ninth in shot put after throwing a distance of 13.64m (44-09.00)
- Liam Quinlan- in high jump he took ninth place clearing a height of 1.79m (5-10.50)
- Chris Slater- earned two top-three finishes at Wittenberg. He finished in first place in shot put with a distance of 15.75m (51-08.25) and in second place in weight throw with a distance of 19.81 (65-00.00)
- Jason Spino- finished in seventh place in pole vault after clearing a height of 4.10m (13-05.25)
