Box Score Delaware, Ohio - Denison field hockey's unblemished conference record comes to an end after falling to North Coast Athletic Conference rivals Ohio Wesleyan 1-0 on the road. The Big Red moved to 7-6 overall and 5-1 in conference play, while the Battling Bishops improved to 7-5 for the season and 5-1 in NCAC play.
Following a quiet first quarter, Ohio Wesleyan's suffocating defense and aggressive offense paid off just a minute into the second quarter. The Battling Bishops, on their fourth penalty corner of the evening, finally pushed past the Big Red defensive line and snuck in a goal to go up 1-0 with over 40 minutes left in regulation.
Unfortunately for Denison, that one goal was enough to topple the top-seeded Big Red. In the end, the Battling Bishops outshot Denison 12-2 and held a 7- 1 advantage in penalty corners. Despite the offensive differential, the Big Red's backline played a crucial role in keeping shots on target to just five. In the cage for Denison was Therese Lucien, who finished the evening with three saves.
