Colorado Springs, Colo.- The National Field Hockey Coaches Association has recently released its academic awards, and Denison field hockey had eight members of the team named to the 2025 NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad, with one of the eight, Madden Phelps, earning the honor of Scholar of Distinction for her performance off the field.
Madden Phelps (Cincinnati, Ohio  |Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) Major with a minor in Military Science) 2025 NFHCA Division III Scholar of Distinction: Phelps is one of 543 exceptional undergraduate student-athletes who were honored for having a GPA of 3.90 or higher throughout the fall semester and were nominated by their NFHCA member coaches. Phelps was joined by 13 other North Coast Athletic Conference members, earning this distinction.

This year the NFHCA named more than 1,800 student-athletes from 147 institutions to the 2025 Division III National Academic Squad. Sponsored by OPA Winning Teams, the NFHCA National Academic Squad program honors undergraduate student-athletes who've held a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher through the fall semester, nominated by their NFHCA member coaches.
