GREENWOOD, Ind. (Jan. 7) – Five Denison University football student-athletes secured spots on the 2024 Academic All-District® Team, as selected by the College Sports Communicators on Tuesday.
Earning the recognition were repeat honorees junior offensive lineman
Canyon Schneider and junior wide receiver
Jack Williams. Fifth-year offensive lineman
Austin Smith, junior offensive lineman
Will Gause and sophomore
Drew Duffy were listed on the CSC Academic All-District Teams for the first time.
Schneider has compiled a 3.74 cumulative grade-point average while majoring in Chemistry. Schneider started all 10 games in his second season as a starter. He earned Third Team All-Conference honors from the North Coast Athletic Conference this fall. This is his second-straight academic honor from the CSC.
Williams is a repeat honoree on the Academic All-District Team. He held a 3.76 cumulative grade-point average at the time of nomination. Williams appeared in all 10 games for a second-straight year. The junior hauled in 18 receptions for 173 yards.
Smith, majoring in Philosophy, Politics and Economics, had a 3.53 cumulative GPA at the time of nomination. Smith earned a starting role this fall and helped Denison's offense find success with his work on the offensive line. This is the first CSC academic honor.
Gause has compiled a 3.66 cumulative grade-point average while majoring in Philosophy, Politics and Economics. A three-year starter on the offensive line, Gause started all 10 games this fall. This is his first CSC academic honor.
Duffy has a 3.84 cumulative GPA while majoring in Philosophy, Politics and Economics. Duffy was in the midst of a breakout season before an injury cut it a few weeks short. Duffy finished with 38 total tackles, 10 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks to post a strong stat line as a first-year starter as a sophomore.
The 2024 Academic All-District® Football Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
Student-athletes must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average to be considered. Additionally, football student-athletes must compete in 90 percent of the institution's games played OR must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games.
