WOOSTER, Ohio (Jan. 25) – The Denison men's track and field team delivered an impressive performance at the Fighting Scots Invitational hosted by the College of Wooster on Saturday. The Big Red showcased their depth across multiple events, earning a second-place team finish with 112 points while highlighting several standout individual performances.
Leading the way for Denison was senior Chris Slater, who dominated the weight throw with a mark of 19.47m (63-10.50). Not only did this effort secure first place, but it also currently ranks him second nationally in NCAA Division III. Slater continued his strong showing in the shot put, capturing another victory with a throw of 15.13m (49-07.75).
Sprints
In the sprints, Jaylin Epps showcased his speed by taking first place in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.01 seconds. 
The 4x200-meter relay team of Sam DiStefano, Pierce Patterson, Akindele Aboyade-Cole, and Jack Meyerowitz added another highlight, winning the event with a time of 1:33.94. Patterson also earned a third place finish in the 400m dash with a final time of 53.35.
Field Events
In addition to Chris Slater's dominant performance in the throws, Owen Mathes secured a second-place finish in the weight throw (14.56m, 47-09.25) and a third-place finish in the shot put (13.23m, 43-05.00). Justin King finished second in men's shot with a throw of 13.58m (44-06.75)
In the long jump, Jack Blais impressed with a leap of 6.26m (20-06.50) to finish second, while Jason Spino finished fourth in the pole vault, clearing 3.95m (12-11.50).
Distance
Oliver DiCerbo led the way in the 3000-meter run, earning second place with a time of 9:05.86. In the 5000-meter run, Cole Clodgo finished sixth with a time of 16:18.58, followed closely by Drew Carpenter, who crossed the line in 16:44.05 for an eighth-place finish.
First year Simon Glass finished third in the 800m clocking in at 2:02.87.
Denison will look to carry their momentum into next week's competition as they will host a dual meet with The College of Wooster on Thursday January 30.
