Granville, Ohio (Jan. 25) – The Denison University women's swimming & diving team celebrated Senior Day in style, recognizing the incredible contributions of its Class of 2025 while delivering a dominant performance in the pool. The Big Red honored their 14 seniors: Zoe Barclay, Amber Croonquist, Kerstyn Johnson, Grace Kadlecik, Sophie Kannee, Maria Mrosko, Maja Palmroos, Annie Pfeufer, Emma Pritchett, Alexis Radhakrishnan, Lauren Richner, Haley Thier, Avery Vogen, and Taryn Wisner.
The meet began with a first-place finish in the women's 200-yard medley relay as the Denison A team of Kadlecik, Riley Tofflemire, Palmroos, and Croonquist clocked a winning time of 1:42.99.
In the 200-yard freestyle, the Big Red achieved a clean sweep. Emily Harris touched first with an impressive time of 1:48.97, followed by Phoebe Ferguson (1:54.62) and Jena Lawlor (1:53.61). Kannee and Thier kept the momentum going in the 50-yard backstroke, with Kannee taking first (27.50) and Thier finishing second (28.46).
Another sweep followed in the 50-yard breaststroke as Tofflemire captured first place (29.10), Barclay earned second (30.63), and Audrey Brink took third (30.93). Mrosko added to the Big Red's tally with a victory in the 200-yard butterfly (2:09.22), while Kayla Tehrani and Caroline Cavalier completed the podium sweep.
The seniors continued to shine in the 50-yard freestyle, with Croonquist leading the way (23.75), followed by Vogen (23.85) and Palmroos (23.98). Lawlor claimed another first-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (52.23), with Olivia Morse (52.63) and Pfeufer (53.07) rounding out the top three. In the 50-yard butterfly, Palmroos secured first place (25.41), with Vogen finishing close behind in second (25.86).
On the diving boards, the Big Red dominated the 1-meter event. Lu-Si Minnich took first with 415.95 points, Johnson placed second (405.68), and Radhakrishnan rounded out the top three (385.58).
The meet concluded with another strong relay performance as the Denison A team of Ferguson, Kadlecik, Palmroos, and Croonquist took first in the 100-yard freestyle relay with a time of 42.29.
Denison University and Denison Swimming & Diving congratulate the Class of 2025 for their remarkable careers and contributions to the program. Up next, the Big Red turn their attention to the postseason as they prepare to host the NCAC Conference Championships from February 12-15.
