Montreal, Quebec, Canada- Summer break for many is a time to wind down and reset; however, for some, like rising senior Riley Tofflemire, this summer she's found herself ramping up training in between her internship with Denison's Lisska Center to prepare for the 2026 Bell Canadian Swimming Trials. Tofflemire, a native of Oakville, Ontario, and an eight-time NCAA All-American, will be returning to Canada to compete in the 2026 Bell Canadian Swimming Trials, a premier Canadian meet open to qualified Swimming Canada registered Swimmers and World Aquatics and World Para Swimming registered foreign swimmers. Hosting this year's trials is Swimming Canada & Fédération de natation du Québec, with competition taking place inside the Montreal Olympic Pool between Sunday, July 5 and Thursday, July 9. This event serves as the primary selection meet for Canada's national team heading to the Pan Pacific Games, featuring athletes racing for spots on the roster.
Tofflemire is set to compete on Tuesday, July 7, in the 50m breast long-course trials, as she is seeded seventh according to SwimCloud standings. Prelims for the 50m breast will be held on Tuesday, July 7, in the morning, with finals in the evening. Since this is an international competition, the pool will be set up as a long-course pool, used worldwide and at the Olympics, rather than the 25-yard short-course pool used for high school and NCAA swimming in the United States. Best of luck to Riley as she takes to the water on Tuesday. Learn more about the Bell Canadian Swimming Trials here.
