GRANVILLE, Ohio (May 4, 2024) – Highlighted by seven total All-North Coast Athletic Conference performances and four conference championships on Saturday, Denison University men's track & field finished third overall at the NCAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The Big Red ended the weekend with 135 points, and were only 21 points away from back-to-back outdoor track & field championships as Wabash College won the meet with 156 points while Wittenberg University was second at 144 points.
Denison began the day with a conference championship in the throws as
Chris Slater won the hammer for the second year in a row, doing so this time with a throw of 53.84 meters (176-08). It was Slater's second all-conference performance of the meet after finishing third in the discus on Friday.
On the track,
Ari Skolnik won the conference title in the 110 meter hurdles for the second year in a row, doing so with a time of 14.62 seconds.
Jaylin Epps won the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.73 seconds to earn the first conference championship of his career in outdoor track & field.
Epps and Skolnik nearly added a second conference championship to the performances on the day. Epps was second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.92 seconds while Skolnik was second behind only Epps with a time of 11.00 seconds in the 100 meter dash. Epps was second in the 100 meter dash and third in the 200 meter dash during his first track & field season at Denison in 2023.
Skolnik and Epps also ran the first two legs of Denison's conference championship team in the 4x100 meter relay, which also featured
Jairus Branch and
Malik Holley and finished with a time of 42.29 seconds.
Holley, meanwhile, finished second with a new personal record time of 48.17 seconds in the 400 meter dash.

After winning the decathlon for the third year in a row last weekend and adding two more all-conference finishes on Friday as he finished third in the pole vault and in the javelin,
Jacob Brown was named the NCAC Field Athlete of the Year.
