LYNCHBURG, Va. (March 24, 2024) – The Denison University men's track & field team began its 2024 outdoor campaign on Friday and Saturday as the Big Red competed at the Dr. Jack M. Tomas Alumni Invitational, hosted by the University of Lynchburg.
Ari Skolnik finished second in the 110 meter hurdles with a new personal record time of 14.72 seconds while
Jacob Brown was 16th at 16.18 seconds.
Andrew D'Asaro finished third in the javelin at 57.94 meters (190' 1").
Chris Slater finished fourth in the shot put with a personal record of 15.63 meters (51' 3¼"), which ranks as the second-best PR in program history, while
Collin Hill was seventh at 14.70 meters (48' 2½") and
Owen Mathes was 10th with a personal record of 14.42 meters (47' 3½").
Charlie Thompson was sixth in the triple jump at 11.32 meters (37' 1½").
Tyler Miller was seventh in the long jump at 6.03 meters (19' 9¼") while
Jack Blais was 11th in the long jump championship finals at 6.28 meters (20' 7").
Brown was ninth in the high jump at 1.85 meters (6' 0¾") while
Liam Quinlan and Miller tied for 10th at 1.80 meters (5' 10¾").
Lastly in the field events, Mathes led the way in the hammer with a 13th-place finish and another personal record at 41.79 meters (137' 1¼"),
Jason Spino was 13th in the pole vault at 3.65 meters (11' 11½"), and Brown was 15th in the javelin at 46.77 meters (153' 5¼").
In the track events,
Jaylin Epps was ninth in the 200 meter dash at 22.22 seconds,
Pierce Patterson was 13th with a time of 50.12 seconds in the 400 meter dash, and
Oliver DiCerbo was 14th with a time of 15:52.25 in the 5,000 meter run.
