Three honored with weekly awards by NCAC


CLEVELAND, Ohio (Dec. 10) – The North Coast Athletic Conference recognized three Denison student-athletes with weekly honors for their performances from Dec. 2 through Dec. 8. 
 
The conference announced Patrick Daly (Men's Swim & Dive Athlete of the Week), Simon Glass (Men's Indoor Distance/Mid-Distance Athlete of the Week) and Chris Slater (Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week) on Tuesday morning. 

Patrick Daly – Men's Swim & Dive Athlete of the Week
Denison senior Patrick Daly (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany) helped the Big Red secure the team title as the Big Red beat out top-ranked Emory University at a loaded Denison Invitational. The senior was a part of six NCAA 'B' cut marks during the three-day invitational. Daly was a member of Denison's first place finish with an NCAA 'B' cut time of 1:19.40 in the 200 Free Relay. Daly established a new school record in the 200 Breaststroke, where he finished in second place with a 'B' cut time of 1:57.09. Daly added a 'B' cut time of 1:46.56 to finish in third in the 200 IM. Daly was also fourth with a 'B' cut time in the 100 Breaststroke at 53.64. Additionally, Daly was a member of 400 Medley and 200 Medley relay teams that earned finished third place finishes with NCAA 'B' cut times. 
 
Simon Glass – Men's Indoor Distance/Mid-Distance Athlete of the Week
Denison first-year Simon Glass (Milburn, N.J./Millburn) placed fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:57.77 at the Wittenberg Tiger Opener last week. With that time, the rookie currently ranks first in the NCAC and 27th in NCAA Division III. Glass was also a part of the Big Red's 4x400 relay team that clocked in at 3:30.14 to rank second in the league so far this season.
 
 Chris Slater – Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
Denison senior Chris Slater (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) established a new program record at the Wittenberg Tiger Opener after recording a toss of 18.83 meters in the weight throw. With that mark, the senior placed second in the event and ranks first in the league and second among all NCAA Division III competitors so far this season. Slater also brought home the title in the shot put after heaving the implement 15.23 meters, which is currently the best in the league and 14th in Div. III.
