GRANVILLE, Ohio (Nov. 3) – The Denison University women's squash team picked up a pair of wins over the University of North Carolina to open its season on Saturday.
The Big Red put together perfect 8-0 wins in both matches. Six first-years picked up wins in the first match.
Leading that group is first-year
Amelia Keng picked up the win at the number one position. Keng won by scores of 11-9, 11-3 and 11-3.
Senior
Antoinette Ramsey cruised to a straight-set win at the number two spot. Ramsey won by scores of 11-2, 11-2 and 11-2.
Sophomore
Esme Adelman won 11-2, 11-6 and 11-4 at the third position.
The four through eight spots were occupied by first years.
Helena Fournaris breezed to a 11-1, 11-1 and 11-4 win at the fourth spot.
Tess Lanza won by scores of 11-1, 11-2 and 11-1 in the fifth position.
Maddie Ruggie,
Markley Peters and
Nora Afzali coasted to wins at six, seven and eight, respectively.
Charlotte Jones, another first-year, won in the first position in the second match of the day.
Keng, Ramsey and Adelman won in straight sets in the two through four spots. Fournaris, Lanza, Ruggie and
Charlotte Sigg won at fifth, sixth, seventh and eight spots.
Denison returns to action with matches versus William Smith and Dickinson on Nov. 9.
