WOOSTER, Ohio (January 25, 2024) – The Denison University men's track & field team traveled back to the College of Wooster for a traditional indoor dual meet on Thursday evening, unfortunately, it was the Fighting Scots who finished with an 89-50 win over the Big Red.
Denison swept the top-three spots in the weight throw and the top-six spots in the shot put.
Chris Slater earned the win in the weight throw with a mark of 16.88 meters (55-04.75) and did so in the shot put with a long toss of 14.11 meters (46-03.50). It was the second year in a row Slater won both events against the Fighting Scots.
Behind Slater in the weight throw was
Owen Mathes in second place at 13.55 meters (44-05.50) and
Reed Nobili in third at 11.70 meters (38-04.75), while behind him in the shot put was
Collin Hill in second at 13.49 meters (44-03.25),
Justin King in third at 12.93 meters (42-05.25), Mathes in fourth at 12.58 meters (41-03.25), Nobili in fifth at 12.27 (40-03.25), and
Jacob Brown in sixth at 11.94 meters (39-02.25).
Brown was also second in the pole vault at 3.95 meters (44-05.50) while
Jason Spino was third at 3.65 meters (11-11.75).
On the track,
Malik Holley won the 400 meter dash with a time of 52.78 seconds while
Ari Skolnik was second in the 60 meter dash at 7.09 seconds and
Jack Meyerowitz was second in the 200 meter dash at 23.55 seconds.

NEXT UP: After sending a small number of athletes to compete in the Steemer Showcase hosted by Wittenberg University this weekend (Jan. 27), the Big Red will return to action on Saturday, February 3, when they host the annual Bob Shannon Invitational inside the Mitchell Fieldhouse. Field events will begin at 11 a.m. with the running events to follow at 1 p.m.
