NEW CONCORD, Ohio (January 13, 2024) – Headlined by four wins and 11 total top-three finishes, the Denison University men's track & field team rang in the New Year by winning the Muskie Meet. Denison finished with 118 points, beating out Washington & Jefferson College (98.50 points) by 19.50 points for the win.
For the second year in a row at the Muskingum meet,
Chris Slater won the shot put while
Ari Skolnik won the 60 meter hurdles.
Slater threw 14.53 meters (47' 8") to win the shot put and was followed by
Collin Hill in second place at 13.97 meters (45' 10"). Slater was also second himself in the weight throw with a long toss of 15.60 meters (51' 2").
Denison earned two more second-place finishes in the field events as
Jacob Brown was second in the long jump at 6.54 meters (21' 5½") and
Isaiah Kessler was second in the pole vault at 4.40 meters (14' 5¼").
Skolnik, meanwhile, ran times of 8.29 seconds in the prelims and 8.42 seconds in the finals of the 60 meter hurdles, finishing first in both races, while Denison also earned a win in the mile with a time of 4:38.00 by
Leo Wisnefski.
Wisnefski added a second-place finish in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:05.84 while in the 400 meter dash,
Pierce Patterson (52.17) was second and
Jack Meyerowitz (53.08) was third.
Denison finished off the meet with a win in the 4x400 meter relay at Meyerowitz,
Jason Rideout, Patterson and Kessler finished with a time of 3:36.59.
