ALLIANCE, Ohio (May 18, 2023) – The Denison University men's and women's track & field teams competed in their final regular season meet of the 2022-23 season on Wednesday, May 17, and Thursday, May 18, at the Mount Union Last Chance.

On the men's side, sophomore Andrew D'Asaro won the javelin with a mark of 61.45 meters (201' 7"), senior Gabe Springer (163' 1") was second in the discus at 49.71 meters, sophomore Tyler Miller was third in the high jump at 1.93 meters (6' 4"), and junior Collin Hill was seventh in the shot put at 14.91 meters (48' 11").

On the women's side, senior Mikaila Carpenter was third in the shot put at 12.54 (41' 1.75") meters while in the hammer, junior Amy Pollack was fourth with a throw of 48.20 (158' 2") meters and fellow-junior Kylee Silverman was fifth at 47.54 meters (156' 0"). Silverman was also sixth in the shot put at 11.51 meters (37' 9.25").

In all of NCAA Division III, D'Asaro is tied for 15th in the javelin with a mark of 61.59 meters (202' 1") set at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships, while junior Jacob Brown is 23rd in the decathlon scoring 6,356 points at the North Central College Combined Events Championship earlier this week. In addition, Springer is tied for 24th in the discus with a mark of 50.17 meters (164' 7") set at the NCAC Championships while Carpenter is tied for 26th in the shot put at 13.51 meters (44' 4") set at the Harrison Dillard Twilight.

WIDENER FINAL QUALIFIER: Denison's Sophia Ellerkmann competed in the Widener Final Qualifier on Monday, May 15, where she finished seventh in the 400 meter dash with a time of 58.03 seconds.

NEXT UP: It was the final chance to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships for the Big Red athletes, who will now wait until Friday, May 19, to see if they made the cut. The announcement will be made on NCAA.com.
