
DELAWARE, Ohio (April 8, 2023) – Finishing the day with four event titles and 12 more top-five finishes, Denison University men's track & field placed second overall at Ohio Wesleyan University's annual Marv Frye Invitational in Delaware. Checking in with a team score of 129 points, the Big Red finished ahead of third-place Baldwin Wallace University (114 points) while Case Western Reserve University placed first overall with 193 team points.
Denison earned three wins in the throwing events as
Gabe Springer won the discus at 47.03 meters,
Chris Slater won the hammer with a personal record of 51.46 meters and
Andrew D'Asaro won the javelin also with a personal record at 56.78 meters.
Jack Blais finished second in the long jump at 6.66 meters while
Collin Hill was second in the shot put at 14.45 meters and
Jason Spino was third in the pole vault at 4.00 meters.
Tyler Miller was fourth in the high jump at 1.90 meters and added a fifth-place leap of 6.28 meters in the long jump.

Also in the throwing events,
Owen Mathes was fifth in the shot put at 13.59 meters and Springer added a top-five finish in the hammer at 45.36 meters.
Denison's other win came in the 4x100 meter relay when
Ari Skolnik,
Jaylin Epps,
Daniel DeSantis and
Malik Holley crossed with a time of 42.73 seconds.
Nathan Hydukovich finished third in the 400 meter dash at 50.35 seconds while
Oliver DiCerbo was third in the mile at 4:23.82 and
Isaiah Kessler was third in the 400 meter hurdles with a personal record of 58.38 seconds.
Epps added a fourth-place finish and a personal record in the 100 meter dash at 11.04 seconds while Holley was fourth in the 400 meter dash at 50.37 seconds.

NEXT UP: Denison will return to action on Wednesday, April 12, when they host the College of Wooster for a traditional dual meet. Field events will start at 3:30 p.m. followed by the track events at 5 p.m. at Deeds Field-Piper Stadium. Then on Saturday, April 15, the Big Red will head back to Ohio Wesleyan for the 2023 All-Ohio Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
