SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (February 11, 2023) – The Denison University men's track & field team sent athletes to compete at three meets this weekend.
OWU OPEN: Denison competed at the 2023 Ohio Wesleyan Open on the night of Friday, February 10, in Delaware, Ohio.
Hilton Sanchez won the long jump with a mark of 6.02 meters while
Akindele Aboyade-Cole was eighth in the shot put at 10.23 meters and
Shin Yano was eighth in the 60 meter dash finals with a time of 7.55 seconds.

ALL-OHIO INDOOR TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS: Denison then traveled to Springfield, Ohio, on the afternoon of Saturday, February 11, to compete at the 2023 All-Ohio Indoor Track & Field Championships at Wittenberg University, and placed third out of 14 teams with 57 points. In the field events,
Chris Slater finished second in the weight throw with a toss of 17.71 meters and was fourth in the shot put at 14.32 meters. On the track,
Ari Skolnik was second in the 60 meter hurdle finals with a time of 8.40 seconds while
Noah Cyr was second in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 8:46.08. Lastly, Denison's 4x200 meter relay team of
Jaylin Epps,
Malik Holley,
Nathan Hydukovich and
Grant Plasch was fourth with a time of 1:30.26 while the Distance Medley Relay squad of
Joshua Lamb,
Calvin Bailey,
Declan Toomey and
Will Cunningham was also fourth at 10:51.16.

CAPITAL OAC TUNE-UP: In addition to the All-Ohio Indoor Championships on Saturday, Denison also sent a pair of distance runners,
Nathan Bertman and
Nico Martinelli, to run in the 5,000 meter run at the Capital OAC Tune-Up in Bexley, Ohio. Bertman finished fourth out of seven runners with a time of 16:02.60 while Martinelli was sixth at 16:52.76.
NEXT UP: The Big Red will return to action on Saturday, February 18, when they travel back to Springfield, Ohio, to take part in the Wittenberg Invitational.
