ALLIANCE, Ohio (May 19, 2022) – The Denison University men's track & field team competed in its final regular season meet of the 2021-22 season on Wednesday and Thursday at the Mount Union Last Chance. The Big Red sent nine athletes to compete across seven events.
The highlight was junior
Gabe Springer, who won the discus with a new Denison school record throw of 50.34 meters (165' 2") and put himself into good position to qualify for nationals. Springer broke the previous discus record of 48.8 meters (157' 9") set by Arthur Morrow in 1965.
Also in the field events, freshman
Andrew D'Asaro finished third in the javelin at 51.04 meters (167' 5") while senior
Shuo Yuan Chen was eighth in the long jump with a mark of 6.42 meters (21' 0¾").
In the 100 meter dash prelims, freshman
Ethan Scott finished 13th with a time of 11.36 seconds; and then in the 200, junior
Shin Yano was 15th at 22.87 seconds.

- Shin Yano – 15th place in the 100 meter dash prelims – 11.84 seconds

- Ethan Scott – 17th place in the 200 meter dash – 24.50 seconds
NEXT UP: It was the final chance to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships for the Big Red athletes, who will now wait until Friday, May 20, to see if they made the cut.
